History & Origins of Canterbury Anniversary Day
Canterbury Anniversary Day (popularly called 'Show Day') is celebrated in Christchurch, New Zealand, on the second Friday of November. It commemorates the arrival of the first four immigrant ships ('The First Four Ships') chartered by the Canterbury Association at Lyttelton Harbour in December 1850, founding the settlement.
