History & Origins of Muharram
Muharram is the first month of the Islamic calendar, and its first day marks the New Year. Historically, Muharram is one of the four sacred months of the year in which fighting is strictly forbidden. It is a period of deep spiritual remembrance, culminating in the historic Day of Ashura on the 10th of the month.
