History & Origins of World Children's Day
World Children's Day (Weltkindertag) in Germany, celebrated on September 20th, was declared an official public holiday in the state of Thuringia in 2019. Historically established by the United Nations in 1954 to promote children's rights, international solidarity, and welfare, Thuringia made it a statutory holiday to emphasize the societal value of children and allow parents to spend quality time with them.
