History & Origins of Orangemen's Day
Orangemen's Day (also known as the Twelfth of July) is a provincial holiday in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. Historically, it commemorates the Battle of the Boyne in 1690, where the Protestant King William of Orange defeated the Catholic King James II in Ireland, establishing Protestant constitutional governance in Great Britain and Ireland.
