Näfels Procession (Näfelser Fahrt) is a unique regional holiday in the canton of Glarus, Switzerland, observed on the first Thursday of April. Historically, it commemorates the Battle of Näfels on April 9, 1388, where a small, brave force of Glarus citizens, supported by Swiss confederates, dramatically defeated an Austrian Habsburg army sixteen times their size, securing Glarus's place in the Swiss Confederation.
