History & Origins of Ascension Day
Ascension Day commemorates the Christian belief in the bodily ascension of Jesus Christ into heaven, occurring forty days after his resurrection on Easter Sunday. Historically, the feast has been observed since the 4th century CE and is described in detail in the biblical Book of Acts. It represents the final glorification of Jesus and the promise of the coming of the Holy Spirit.
