History & Origins of Constitution Day
Constitution Day in Mexico, observed on the first Monday of February, commemorates the anniversary of the Promulgation of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States on February 5, 1917, by President Venustiano Carranza. Born out of the Mexican Revolution, this historical document was the first in the world to incorporate extensive social rights, including labor and agrarian reforms.

Celebrated with official state speeches, school plays recreating the 1917 assembly, and a long national holiday weekend for family trips and civic parades.
