History & Origins of Boxing Day
Boxing Day, observed on December 26th across Commonwealth nations, has medieval origins when churches placed collection boxes for the poor to be opened the day after Christmas. It was also the traditional day when servants were given the day off and presented with gift boxes by their employers as a thank-you for their service.
