History & Origins of Easter Monday
Easter Monday is the day after Easter Sunday and holds historical roots in the post-Resurrection narrative, where Christ is said to have remained on Earth for forty days appearing to his disciples. Historically, in medieval Europe, the entire week following Easter (Easter Week) was a holiday of sports, feasts, and relaxation. Easter Monday is the modern legislative remnant of that extended holiday period.
